Family comes to mind as we designed and built this new home in Saratoga California. The RemodelWest Design and Construction team didn't leave much of the old 1960’s era Ranch Style home located in the suburban neighborhoods of Silicon Valley. Our client had a vision for their young family and we responded with a wide open floor plan to entertain and enjoy for many years to come.

The main living area opens seamlessly to the backyard patio and outdoor kitchen area with the use of a Nanawall system. The Nanawall doors bifold open in two sections with the main system integrated into the kitchen counter creating a peninsula counter perfect for entertaining and conversing with Dad at the BBQ outside. The custom color on the Nanawall coordinated well with the overall color scheme. The kitchen features a white painted inset style by Crystal Cabinets with a complementing Hickory island and exposed beams. Soapstone on the island and outdoor kitchen bring in a contrast with a natural texture while the Quartzite counters around the perimeter add a more monochromatic look with just a enough subtly contrast. Custom gates built into each end of the island were created to manage the pets (and maybe even the kids) during cooking. The dark hand scraped hickory floors anchor the home and provide a tough surface for the family.

Practical features balanced with aesthetics are throughout and include the Locker cabinet off the garage entry for the kids to drop their stuff after busy days. The laundry room, although not too large, includes space for rolling laundry carts, hanging racks and even built in dog crate. A dutch pocket door achieves our clients desire to keep pets in the laundry room but not to make them feel isolated. The whimsical tile on the floor brings the fun into this space. Not visible but right outside the sliding patio door is an outdoor shower for kid and pet washing.

The original home was demolished down to the existing foundation expanded and reconstructed. Respecting the integrity of the neighborhood we raised the ceilings to 9’, specified a reverse board and batten siding, Sierra Pacific Windows and a double entry door which achieves a secure way to bring light into the home during the days.

The net result of this project designed and built by RemodelWest is a new custom home, nestled into an established neighborhood tailored to our clients inspirations for today's families in busy Silicon Valley.
